Sneak Peek - Tropical Punch

I work in a fairly conservative environment but I still like to dress stylish without everyone making a big fuss.  I can't even tell you the chaos I caused when I wore my clip-on ponytail one Summer a couple years ago...mayhem, I tell you!  Even a new hairstyle can send my fellow co-workers (who have had their same hairstyles since the 1970s) into a tailspin!

I lay my outfit out every night for the following morning because if I don't, I wind up ripping my closet apart in the morning trying to find something to wear, then I wind up obsessing over it and the next thing I know - I'm late for work.  So each week I'm going to take some pics and give you a "Sneak Peak of the Week" of one of my outfits.

I hope you like it!

I love this coral tank top I just bought - the frills around the neckline make it so feminine!  I'm usually between sizes so I tend to order the larger size then pull out my sewing machine and make any modifications I need to make the items fit me better - like I did with this tank...  The coral and turquoise colors remind me of the tropics!

I wear a lot of cami/cardi combos because I'm always looking for ways to expand my wardrobe on a budget and this way I can mix and match.  I've had this white sweater for years!!!!

I have to lay out my jewelry selection too - I actually enjoy my nightly ritual of picking out my outfits.

I didn't really get a pic of my chocolate brown slacks but you can see them here a little bit.  I love these sandals, they go with EVERYTHING!

So that's my head to toe Sneak Peak of the Week!

Do you pre-plan what you're going to wear the next day or do you just "wing it"????

Flower Power!

I LOVE fresh flowers!  My goal one day is to have some kind of flower in bloom all year round in my yard.  I'm more of an amateur gardener right now - more of a "Let's stick it in the ground and see if it grows" kind of philosophy.  I also collect vases and it's nice to be able to put them to good use - fresh flowers around the house always look so elegant!

Here in the US right now we have just begun our summer season and things are in full bloom!  I wanted to share a bunch some pics of flowers from both outside in my yard and inside in my jewelry box!

Cute turquoise earrings

Beautiful lillies in my kitchen.

Fresh, white flower pendant - simplicity!

Yellow roses - my favorite flower.

You can't see it very well but this is a butterfly on top of a flower - all sparkly in silver and diamonds.
Well, not real diamonds but jazzy all the same!

Lovely pink flower ring!

Pretty lillies - so vibrant.

I love the color turquoise!  I think this is such a universal color and it looks good on everyone!!

More lillies (it's Lilly time of year!) in a beautiful crystal vase!

My jewelry box garden!

Do you have any certain designs that you collect in your jewelry box?  I didn't even realize I had this many flowery pieces!  What do you collect?  Hearts?  Stars?  I'd love to hear from you!

SHINE ON!

Good afternoon!  I'm so excited to have more followers joining me today - HI!!!!  Thank you so much for joining!

Back to business!  I love trying new beauty products out whether it be a new hair, skin or nail product - love to try them all!  Also, if I have a coupon, even better because I like to be cheap thrifty.  I'm currently on a endless journey to manage my shiny face and am testing a new blotting paper at the moment but it's only day one and I'm not sure if I like them or not.  More on that later...

This product that I would like to share today is magical!  I've been using it for years and it always makes my hair feel so soft, it fights frizz and makes my blonde locks shiny!  (I want my hair shiny - not my face!)  I usually put a dab on my hand and rub them together then smooth it on to damp hair.  If you look at your hands after, you'll see little shiny flecks of fairy dust gold!

It's unbelievable and one of the products I will never stop buying.
Try it out and let me know how you like it!

Inspiration Monday - Diane Kruger

Good evening friends!  I'm so nervous to be doing my first Inspiration Monday fashion post which is hosted by two birds.  This is the outfit I will attempt to interpret, I hope I do a good job!

So I actually own two - maybe three skirts and this one was pretty close so I chose to wear it...

Me looking wistfully out the window...  *teehee*

Pretty paisley pattern!

I had the perfect cross body bag that I always fly with - keeps passports and other required items snug by my side!

These are what I refer to as "sitting shoes" because they don't have a lot of cushion so you don't want to be walking around in them all day (as I found out the hard way!)

And that's my first inspiration Monday post - I hope you like it!

Welcome to my OCD

Good morning friends!  I have a confession - I'm an organizational freak fanatic.  When things are a pigsty in disarray, I get anxious.  Which I find odd because when I'm home, I'm constantly causing chaos pulling things apart and messing up the place...  I always joke that I just need someone to come behind me and put things away and this place would be perfect!  Any takers?  I thought not...

I like to find creative ways to keep things organized for a couple reasons.  Other than the OCD thing, it's just easier to find things and since we live in a rather small home, I like to maximize my space usage to pack in more crap that I don't need treasures.  Here are a couple ways I keep things handy and neat!

I love these!  This is an over the door shoe holder.  I have a few of them and this particular one holds all my gloves, scarves and hats.  I can see what I have and it's great for grab and go!  Oh, these also hold shoes...

I was collecting old glass doorknobs for awhile because I just think they're cool.  Subconsciously they probably just remind me of a big diamond solitaire - oh pretty....  Anyway, I was finding all my necklaces were constantly getting tangled and I couldn't see what I had so I asked the hub to put my glass doorknobs to good use and mount them for me and - Ta-dah!  A necklace organizer was born!

I love cut glass/crystal also - probably goes back to the whole shiny diamond thing BUT I find myself drawn to it at antique shops, yard sales, flea markets...etc.  Plus I have some old pieces from my Nana (what? you didn't have a Nana?) and my grandmother so I like to use them to hold my various bangles and bracelets so I can see what I have!

What creative ways do you use to organize your closets, drawers and accessories?  I'd love to steal hear them!

Fashionable Fragrances

Now that Summer is here it was time for me switch over my fragrances.  Yes, you heard correctly.  Just like most of us switch our clothing from season to season, I switch my fragrances.  Part of this is due to the fact that I don't like to clutter up my bureau too much so I keep them all on a lovely mirrored tray and it only holds so many.  Here are some of my new and old favs for the Summer!

Does it remind you of the perfume counter at Macy's!?!?!

These are two relatively new additions for me and they're both Calvin Klein fragrances.  ck one Summer 2011 is a limited edition unisex citrus fragrance and Beauty is more of a sophisticated lady fragrance which is fairly new as it was released in 2010.  Two completely different fragrances!

This is a lovely light Green Tea fragrance from Elizabeth Arden - this is my "go to" one when I'm running errands on the weekend, like off to the grocery store.  It's light and fresh!  A little citrus - a little musky...  I've been using this one for years!

Here are two that I love to wear alone or together - that's right - at the same time!  Nautica has such a lovely floral scent and Armani Diamonds is lighter and fresh so they work very well together.

I guess I'm drawn to fragrances because they are a One Size Fits All accessory!  AND I like to smell pretty!  What are some of your fav fragrances????  Do you ever mix and if so, which ones?

I'll have to revisit when I switch over to my Fall/Winter fragrances!

Why oh why...

Some of you may know me from my other wondrous blog http://rantsontherun.blogspot.com
and you may be wondering - Why oh why are you switching gears and starting up another blog?

Well, the answer my friends lies in the inspiration I've gotten from the many fashion blogs I myself follow!  That's right - you all have inspired me!  You all look like you're having such fun, I wanted to come over and play in your sandboxes closets!

Now I want to begin by saying I'm in no way a fashionista but I like to look cute like my fellow blogging friends!

I wanted to give a special "shout out" to my top three FAVORITE blogs of ALL TIME!!!!  If you haven't visited them - you must ASAP!

http://thriftreveal.blogspot.com
http://shewearscrazywell.blogspot.com

All a bit crazy in their own way - which I love!  You know what they say about birds of a feather!

Virgin Post!!!

I'm so excited to pop the cherry on my newest blog endeavor!  I haven't had a cherry of my own to pop in many many many moons, so this is very exciting!  I know I don't have any followers right now - in fact no one even knows this blog exists just yet.  Oh, I feel so naughty keeping it all to myself!

I know there are many fashion blogs out there but I felt like I couldn't fully relate to them being a plus size gal.  Now, there are lots of plus size fashion blogs out there too (very cute ones indeed!) but they seem to be geared toward the younger crowd.  Being plus size when you're in your twenties is a different animal than when you're in your forties.  Trust me, when you're in your twenties, gravity is still your friend and when you lay down, your boobs don't play hide-and-seek on you... 'nuff said.

At 40+ years of age, I feel sort of in between - too young to be old and too old to be young.  Like I'm not ready to start dressing full grandma garb but yet I'm too old to be wearing the younger fashions.  Let's face it, at my age walking around with the word "Pink" or "Juicy" on my dimply ass is just not cute!

You don't have to be plus size to enjoy this blog because I'm hoping it will be informative and fun for all who visit!

So let's do this!!!
